## Who it is for

### Product marketing and competitive intelligence

At a company whose tool is measured. Your own standing against every competitor on one questionnaire, and numbers that hold up in the room, because the survey is unbranded and every figure carries its base.

### Developer relations and developer marketing

The gap between the developers who know your tool and the developers who use it, and what they do with it once they adopt it, task by task.

## What these numbers let you do

Our share moved. Is that real?

Answered by awareness, use and conversion for every tool, same questions, same window.

So you can take the movement upstairs with its base printed beside it.

Is our problem reach or preference?

Answered by the share of developers who know your tool and currently use it.

So you can put next quarter's budget into awareness or into the product, and know which.

Which tasks do we claim, and which do we concede?

Answered by task-level satisfaction, per tool.

So you can write positioning on the tasks developers say you win.

How far can our agent messaging go this year?

Answered by agent autonomy today, and what holds it back.

So you can make a claim the market is ready to believe.

Are we a habit or an experiment?

Answered by workflow reliance, by role and by team type.

So you can see whether developers stayed after the trial.

Who are we losing aware developers to?

Answered by conversion, tool against tool.

So you can see which competitor wins the developers who already know your tool.

Which competitor is gaining on us?

Answered by movement in use across waves.

So you can spot a rising competitor early and respond while the gap is small.

Which developers should our next campaign reach?

Answered by use and awareness, by role and by team type.

So you can aim the campaign at the roles and teams where your tool has the most room to grow.

In the latest wave, the strongest tool turned 48% of the developers who knew it into developers who used it. Most tools converted fewer than one in five.

Base: 2,063 professional developers using AI developer tools, Q3 2026.

## Why this methodology is unique

- **The survey is unbranded.** Respondents are never told who commissioned it.
- **Boosted samples never enter a share figure.** Extra respondents recruited to study one tool are used for that analysis alone.
- **The methodology is public,** so anyone in your organisation can check it without asking us. [Read the methodology](https://www.slashdata.co/methodology).
